About IPCA GHANA
IPCA GHANA is part of the International Prison Chaplains Association, Worldwide which is a network of prison Chaplains (ordained Ministers, Deacons, Elders and other Christian Professionals) working with prison inmates including those in police cells. IPCA has a Consultative status at the UN.
Through its periodic worldwide conferences chaplains are able to learn from each other and support one another. Support for Chaplains even from their own churches are often limited and therefore the Association provides a network that can be a source of encouragement so chaplains do not feel isolated and abandoned.

Vision
To unite, equip and encourage a network of prison chaplains in Ghana , linking them up to a global network of prison chaplains thereby enhancing their care and support to prison inmates through the sharing of the Word of God, advocacy and general well being of inmates.

Our Activities
Anti-Crime Talk
Recognizing that there are a lot of young people in Prison, the leadership of IPCA GHANA saw the need to embark on a program to educate Senior High School students in the country to avoid prison.
Regional Outreaches
IPCA GHANA, launched in Accra in 2016 by the then Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr James Agalga (representing the substantive Minister), in conjunction with the IPCA AFRICA Chairperson, Hon. Rev. Jean Didier Mboyo, has reached out to several Regions.
Global Prayer Day
The International Prison Chaplains Association (IPCA) Worldwide holds its annual Global Day of Prayer for prison ministry on August 25th, commemorating the birthday of IPCA .
International Conferences
The International Prison Chaplains Association (IPCA) Ghana is committed to participating in conferences organised by IPCA Worldwide. Recently, IPCA GHANA participated in the 8th IPCA Worldwide Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 2 to 7, 2025.

Ordained Ministers, Deacons, Elders, and other Christian Professionals who reach out to prisoners (including those in Police Cells) and their families are qualified to join. Leadership
IPCA GHANA is led by Rev Steve Mensah, an International Prison Evangelist with over 30 years of experience in Prison Ministry, also a retired Banker and author of 'Not Guilty for Loving the Hated - a Call to Prison Ministry’.
