Regions

IPCA GHANA, launched in Accra in 2016 by the then Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr James Agalga (representing the substantive Minister), in conjunction with the IPCA AFRICA Chairperson, Hon. Rev. Jean Didier Mboyo, has reached out to several Regions. Each Regional Launch is preceded by Street Marches on the major Streets in the City, with IPCA Members and Prison Officers holding placards to advocate for better care for prisoners and prisons as a whole. So far, the Central, Western, Ashanti, Eastern and Volta Regions have been launched.

Central Region

The Central Region was launched in 2018. The Launch was spearheaded by IPCA National Chair and ably supported by Steering Committee Members Rev Philip Ahodokpo, Dr Mrs Angela Mensah, Chaplain Mrs Gifty Azeko, Pastor Adjei-Sowah and the then Central Region Preparatory caucus, including Rev Dr Evans Ekanem (now Central Region Chair), Pastor Ben Amoah, Rev Wilfred Biney, Very Rev Aidoo et al.

Dignitaries who attended the official Launch included the Oguaa Omanhene Osabarima Kwesi Atta. Other leading IPCA GH members from Accra who attended the successful Launch included Rev Emmanuel Kangah, Chaplain Evans Gyenny Mensah and Rev Manfort.

Eastern Region

Eastern Region was launched in a well-attended Ceremony and, as usual, preceded by an exciting Street March on some Streets of Koforidua. Most of the Preparatory work was spearheaded by Rev Atta Bilson, with assistance from Chaplain Emmanuel Asamoah and others, under the direction of the National Steering Committee. The Eastern Region Prison Command should also be commended for throwing its weight behind the Launch.

Ashanti Region

Ashanti Region was launched in 2021 and was spearheaded by National Chair and Bishop Jake Oppong Acquah (who did most of the Preparatory work) and Rev Joe Turkson. High-ranking Rev Ministers in the Kumasi Metropolis who threw their weight behind the Launch included Rev Ransford Obeng, the General Superintendent of CCC.

Western Region

Western Region was launched in 2020 and was spearheaded by National Chairman Rev Steve Mensah and ably supported by Bishop Jake Oppong Acquah, Rev Supt Bonful (Reg Service Chaplain), Chaplain Anobaah of blessed memory, Chaplain Annan, Chaplain Ernest Osafo, Dr Mrs Angela Mensah and Rev Dr Evans Ekanem (representing Central Region).

Volta Region

Volta was launched in 2022, with preparatory work directed by the National Steering Committee. The Volta Region Prison Command actively supported the Preparatory group of Very Rev Mawutor, Rev Alice Blunya, Bishop Zikpi et al.
